XVIII. Humanitarian Congress Berlin
THE POLITICS OF COMPASSION
Now in its 18th year, the Humanitarian Congress Berlin brings together leading experts from medical, humanitarian and international organisations, politics and media, as well as young professionals interested in humanitarian work from around the globe. It provides participants with the unique opportunity to share experiences, knowledge and ideas of humanitarian action in an international and multi-disciplinary setting.
By gathering more than 800 individuals from across the world every year, the Humanitarian Congress has created a community with a shared interest in the major issues and challenges confronting humanitarian action. The congress aims to foster an interactive dialogue between speakers and participants through a mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions and workshops. This year’s agenda focuses on the entanglement between humanitarian action and politics and the impact this has on the people most in need of humanitarian aid. What challenges does the politicization of aid present to humanitarian actors and how and by whom should they be addressed?
This year’s Humanitarian Congress Berlin will take place on 14 and 15 October 2016 and will be held in English. The congress is organised by Médecins Sans Frontières/Ärzte ohne Grenzen e.V., Médecins du Monde, the German Red Cross, the Berlin Chamber of Physicians and the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
