Carbon Footprint

The aim of the Humanitarian Congress Berlin is to ensure a diverse audience, including experts as well as practitioners and young professionals from medical, humanitarian and international organisations, politics, academia and media from around the globe.

However, the realization of this vision is inevitably connected with traveling long distances also via plane, train or car. Whenever possible we suggest choosing train options rather than booking flights. But we know, there are a couple of situations where flying is the only option.

For those cases we would like to recommend some initiatives offering carbon offset schemes. Mostly, you can calculate the emissions of your trip via an online tool and then paying the offset reduce emissions elsewhere in the world by the same amount – thus making the flight "carbon neutral". By this, you invest in environmental projects around the world in order to balance out your own carbon footprint. The projects are usually based in developing countries and most commonly are designed to reduce future emissions. This might involve rolling out clean energy technologies.

Amongst others, you can offset your CO2 here.
