Out of Sight, Out of Mind? Unveiling Attention and Neglect in Humanitarian Action and Global Health.
The 25th Humanitarian Congress Berlin 2023 is over. Many thanks to all those involved and to all those who have contributed to this.
With the ambition of unveiling as many uncomfortable structures, dilemmas, and relevant facets to the topic as possible, the Humanitarian Congress Berlin embarked on the complexities, drivers, and biases inherent in attention and neglect — by media, politics, humanitarians, and society at large. We explored how attention influenced humanitarian engagement in certain contexts, perpetuated inequalities, and pre-set possible avenues of likely humanitarian assistance.
We were excited that the Humanitarian Congress Berlin was back with two days of in-person sessions, partly live-streamed, two stages, and our fair and exchange area – the Humanitarian Forum.
